Pool decks in Naugatuck
Many Naugatuck pools went in alongside its mid-century houses (half built before 1971), and decks from that era are often cracked, sunken at the coping or pitched the wrong way. Pool deck work in Naugatuck splits between backyard pools at single-family homes (56% of the housing) and shared pools at condo associations.
Sloped yards in Naugatuck often put one side of the pool deck on fill, which settles. We compact that side harder or hold it with a retaining wall.
The median home in Naugatuck was built in 1971, newer than the 1960s house that's typical statewide. That's newer than next-door Waterbury (median 1959) and older than Oxford (1986).

Pool deck rules in Naugatuck. Replacing a deck around an existing pool usually doesn't need a building permit by itself, but anything electrical does, and a new pool brings its own permits, barrier rules and the bonding grid that has to be inspected before we pour. We coordinate with your pool contractor and electrician.

Pool decks in Naugatuck: questions
When should I book pool deck work in Naugatuck?
Fall or winter, for a spring pour. Spring fills up fast with pool openings and repairs.
Can you resurface my pool deck instead of replacing it?
If it's sound, yes: hairline cracks only, nothing heaved or sunk, and it pitches away from the pool. A knockdown or spray overlay gives it new texture and color for much less than replacement.
One side of our pool deck keeps sinking. Why?
Usually because that side sits on fill that wasn't compacted. Lifting can fix it if the slab is whole; otherwise we rebuild that section on a compacted base or behind a retaining wall.
